US president Harry S Truman said “the buck stops here” and the phrase refers to the fact that a President has to make the decisions and accept the ultimate responsibility for those decisions.
So if it is good enough for a president then should the same apply to you and me?
It is time for us to take responsibility. We need to stop blaming the government for everything that has gone wrong in our life. We need to take responsibility for what happens in our life and for those decisions that we make.
For example when it comes down to our health, we alone are responsible for our own health, fitness and wellbeing; we cannot blame the health service.
We are responsible for the food that we buy, what we eat. We are responsible for the amount of exercise that we do, the amount of alcohol we drink and if we choose to smoke.
The same principle applies to those who blame the food industry when they become overweight or ill. The buck stops here. As an individual, we are responsible. We cannot use them as a scapegoat.
All foods have labels that tell us exactly what they contain, the amount of sugar, salt and fat. We need to use our common sense. We also have the Internet at our fingertips. If in doubt we can always Google the information to find out those important facts.
It’s my life and the buck stops here! cont…………
We also have to take responsibility for what we watch on television, the films we go and see. We alone are responsible. If we don’t like what we see, then all we have to do is turn it off. The same goes for books. Nobody makes us buy books or read things that we do not want to read. Again, the buck stops here.
We also have to take ownership for the company that we keep, the friends that we choose. If we make bad decisions due to what are friends tell us to do, then again the buck stops here. We only have ourselves to blame.
The world is literally our oyster and we can achieve anything that we want. We can earn the money we want and we can do those jobs that we choose to do. If we are not happy then we need to change direction, find another job.
We are all responsible for our life’s choices. It is so easy to blame others, such as the media, the government, healthcare providers and employers. But it is time that we all took responsibility for the choices that we make in life. We have to face up to our responsibilities and accept the good that happens in our life as well as the bad.
Now that was a hard pill to swallow as I just got use to blaming everyone and everything. I diverted the attention away from me and put it on everyone else.
However when I really decided to change my life and the direction I was going in, one of the first things I was taught was to take a good look at myself in the mirror.
Since then what a wonderful feeling it is to know I am in control of my destiny and nothing can happen to me because I make all the decisions in my life.
This was one of the most important decisions I made when I started my online business with the SFM/DEA.
